whistle while you work...

Still working on new items for this Saturday's event

https://www.facebook.com/events/416099238474564/
Take a look at their FB page for more
wonderful artists that will be in attendance!

I made some new jewelry tags,
and created some ooak
assemblage pendants,
they feature soldered beach glass with a dark patina
adorned with everything from vintage religious medals
to birds all with a pink bead for the special occasion.

Lots more to do yet...

I hope that you are all having
a fabulous day full of promise of good things to come!

Welcome to all of my new followers
and thank you to everyone  for
your support and encouragement!

Arts for the Cure!

Last week my sister, Molly, came over and we played with
the silverware some more.
This time we took the knives that have stainless steel blades
and cut off the handles to make
some new creations.

I took a couple of the smaller pieces and
made pendants with them.
This is one of them, with more in the works!

This past weekend I broke out the soldering iron and
worked on some new ideas,
but it was one of those days where
I didn't really feel like I accomplished much.
It was though, a very good trial and error day,
and sometimes I need those too.
We gotta keep striving for new and exciting
ideas in our art work no matter the trials it takes to get there!

I am getting ready for a special show this Saturday.

A fun filled day with an
artisan open house, silent auction and
music and dancing all in the name
of finding a cure for breast cancer.

I think it's the perfect way for
the old white house
to open the show season.
so if you are in the area
we will be at
The City Flats Hotel
downtown Grand Rapids from 1-7
and of course, I would love to see all of your smiling faces!

Have a fabulous day!

love,
Theresa

guest artist...

I am lucky to have 5 very talented and creative kids.
Each one has their special gift of creativity,
they are all an inspiration to me!

Today I am going to share
Hannah's latest creation.

This fabulous piece of string art is now gracing our dining room wall.
Like all good artists Hannah made good use of her resources.

She went out to the barn.

When she came back in she had a few pieces of
wood for her future masterpieces.

love this girl...

This is a pretty large piece, measuring 2'x2'.
She painted it white,
freehanded our great state of MI.
and the put many, many nails around the outline
and then went string crazy!

edit... see the open heart?  That represents where we live,
so you see why it's so special!

I love it!
It brings a pop of color and most importantly

HAPPINESS

to the dining room!

Thank you BOO!
love you!

Have a fabulous day,
and may you too be inspired by the special
people in your life!

love,
Theresa

playing with treasures...

Do you hang on to treasures with the intention of using them somehow,
but when the moment comes you get cold feet?

"It's too precious,"
"what if I come up with another idea later,"
"I will never find another one like this..."

Yes, you have now been privy to the thoughts that ramble on in my noggin.
(lucky you.)

I have had this medallion forever.
Really, I can't even remember where I got it now.
Every time I put it in front of me to use,
I would talk myself out of it.
Until a couple of days ago, when I decided it
was time to give it a new life and added it to bits of chain
and freshwater pearls, some sandwiched between rhinestone rondelles.
I'm so glad that I did,
I think it looks better as a necklace
instead of another buried treasure on the worktable!

newly listed...

It's a snow day here,
it is a gorgeous winter wonderland outside the window...
So soup is on the menu
along with hot chocolate waiting for
the sledders!

Stay warm!
love,
Theresa

spread love...

The last of the Christmas gifts have finally been delivered so I
can show you these now.
I just love how they turned out and all of the
special people that received them loved them too...
bonus!
It was actually one of those,
WOW! THANKS!  moments...

(not one of the kind of thank you's
with the scrunched up face
as they stick it back in the bag, their mind
racing with who they will be regifting it to!)
you know the kind of thank you I'm talking about, right?

In the jar is homemade cinnamon honey butter,
and it is delicious on pancakes topped with peaches,
trust me on this one!
After I made this jar I found the cutest little
squatty ball jars and started using them.
I used the new lids that came with them too,
not everyone loves the old zinc lids like
the friend who got this jar does!

The knives were fun to make,
and would make a sweet Valentines gift for someone special!
I found the recipe for the butter on Pinterest,
but I doctored it up to suit our taste.

1 stick of butter
2 tblsp. of good honey
1/4 to  1/2 tsp cinnamon (I like the butter to look golden brown)
plus I love cinnamon :)
1/4 tsp. vanilla
dash of sea salt

add all ingredients and cream them in your mixer.
This recipe makes one 1/2 pint jar.

I think this might be the first ever recipe that I have posted here.
I am not a gourmet chef, nor do I play one on tv.
At best I just try to do my best to keep
everyone full of good, healthy food.
When asked what's for dinner my reply is generally ~

food.

that is because I am typically
winging it and don't know what's going on the table
until about 1/2 way through the point of no return!
Add this, add that,
what else is in the refrigerator or cupboard?
(One of the many lessons from my mom)
So what I'm trying to say is that the next post
will most definitely not be another recipe...
so enjoy this moment!

love,
Theresa
